LIKE AN ECLIPSE, OLED TVS SHOW “PERFECT BLACK”

Thin OLED TV

Who knew darkness could hurt your eyes? We hope you either used the special glasses or did not look directly at this week’s solar eclipse. If you missed it, we have an easy way to view “perfect black” in our showroom with OLED TVs. It causes much less harm to your eyes and do not require any special glasses.

WHAT IS OLED TV?

It stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode. What does that mean? In simple terms, most televisions rely on a light from the back or the sides of a television to help emit color.

OLED TVs have diodes that emit their own light. The diodes create three distinct advantages:

  • “Perfect Black” – If you have a black object and a colorful object on the screen at the same time, the colorful object will have less affect on the black object. In other TVs, the light needed to create the color would slightly brighten the black object. An OLED TV creates the color black by not emitting any diodes. Since each portion of the screen creates its own light, the black object get less affected by the diodes in other parts of the screen.

  • Greater contrast – If the color remains the same, but the black gets darker, that means a greater contrast of color right?

  • Can TV’s really get thinner? – Yes! The diodes create the light, which means the TV needs fewer parts. So it can go even thinner than the competition.
